Dr Luis Cuauhtémoc Navarro Mastache

As a celebrated, award-winning Molecular Biologist Cuauhtémoc has focused much of his career on agricultural crops specialising on in-vitro organogenesis and embryogenesis. He has been instrumental in securing future sustainability of major crops such as Coffea, banana, blueberry, cacao and Agave tequilana by enhancing resilience, health, vigour, and ultimately supply.

His passion for plants and work with Pinnacle Plants International on Agave, and many other ornamental garden and landscape plants is feeding our breeding and selection programme at URBAFLORA®.  Cold hardy Xeric plants that provide ecosystem services in challenging urban environments have been a priority here at Pinnacle Plants International for some time as many of our U.S. clients have a moral and or legislative imperative to use waterwise plants. Travelling extensively from his home in Mexico Cuauhtémoc is well placed to work on subjects with enhanced ecosystem services across genus such as Yucca, Hesperaloe and of course Agave although we don’t anticipate producing quite as many as he has done for the tequila industry, 26 million and counting.
