Pinnacle Plants International are proud to be working with Palm and Exotic Foliage expert Herbert Riphagen.
Born on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia Herbert’s passion for plants began at home and has developed over more than 40 years of plant exploring, gardening and nursery production.
Having met and married a local girl they moved to the Netherlands which became the base of operations from where he oversaw product development and production on the nurseries he established in Thailand.
The range of plants grown in Thailand continues to expand as Herbert’s adventures take him to more exotic locations. Having studied the wild native specimens in each location, he secures plants and seeds from cultivation which, with the help of local nurseries and growers is shipped to his team in Thailand to grow on. A real labour of love, as many of the plants in his range have taken years of cultivation and propagation before being offered.
From the late 1990’s he has traveled the world and imported many special plants, such as: tree ferns from New Zealand/Australia and Tasmania; Trachycarpus wagnerianus from South Korea; Butia species from South America; Trithrinax campestris and Jubaea from Argentina and Chile; Xanthorrhoea from Australia, and many, many more. Where possible, Herbert and his growers cultivate plants originating at higher altitudes, the provenance of which, in some cases, provides a little more cold tolerance.
Having established contacts throughout South and East Asia, South America and beyond Herbert now focuses on in-situ and ex-situ conservation by working with local communities as well as securing plants for botanic gardens.
In order to focus on this, he has closed his businesses in the Netherlands and his team in Thailand will fulfil customer demand through Pinnacle Plants International who will, exclusively, receive shipments in the UK for immediate delivery to customers or pot on for later supply in containers. In partnership with Herbert, we (Pinnacle Plants) will initiate, in-vitro, selected lines in our labs. Young plants of which will then become more widely available.

For bigger orders CC Danish Trolley’s will be used, or you are welcome to collect from our Wimborne, Dorset Nursery. As tissue culture (TC) plants become available they will be supplied as weaned plugs or stage 3 plantlets.
All plants supplied are from cultivation and Herbert’s expert team in Thailand ensure all are inspected by government plant health inspectors before being carefully packed and shipped with all the mandatory paperwork.
