John Fielding studied horticulture in Lancashire and at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. During a career spanning over 50 years, he has been actively involved in many aspects of horticulture including plant breeding and selection.

He is on the RHS Herbaceous Plant Expert Group and is also involved in a number of specialist horticultural societies including one dedicated to Mediterranean Plants and Gardens of which he is a member of the Management Committee.

A world renowned expert on Mediterranean flora, John draws upon his vast knowledge to recommend such plants and their hybrids for use in the gardens and landscapes of Britain, Europe and beyond.
